Title: Generative AI, Multimodal Learning, & Localization
Abstract: In recent years, generative AI and multi-modal learning have made remarkable advancements, particularly in the fields of computer vision (CV) and the integration of textual and visual data. Generative models, such as GANs (Generative Adversarial Networks), transformers, and diffusion models, have pushed the boundaries of what machines can create and interpret, while multi-modal learning has bridged the gap between different data types, allowing for more holistic and context-aware AI applications. This talk will explore the emerging potential of applying generative AI and multi-modal learning to the domain of localization—an area critical to autonomous navigation, augmented reality, and robotics. We will first discuss how these advanced AI techniques can be leveraged to enhance localization accuracy through multi-modal positioning and synthesis of richer, contextually grounded fingerprint data. Then, motivated by the multi-modality alignment models, such as CLIP and SAM, we will highlight potential research directions and applications for more intelligent and adaptable localization systems.
